Gonski 2.0

The Hodgman Liberal Government welcomes the Commonwealth’s passage of Gonski 2.0 because it is good for Tasmania.

This Government supports Gonski 2.0 because it is fair, transparent, and needs-based, regardless of sectoral differences.

Importantly the Commonwealth’s passage of Gonski 2.0 means certainty for Tasmanian students and their families can be assured that they will receive more money, sooner.

While we are still working through the details, following the Senate amendments, we do know Gonski 2.0 will mean an additional $186 million in real money for Tasmanian schools, and students will receive more money per student than any other state.

I congratulate the Tasmanian Senators who voted for Gonski 2.0, putting aside party politics for the benefit of Tasmanian students.
